Process and Timeline

Application

You must use the HKU application template. In order to be awarded Associate Fellowship, applicants need to demonstrate their effectiveness as teachers in TWO out of the FIVE areas of activity in the UK Professional Standards Framework. Once you have registered on the scheme and completed three workshops (including the introductory, mandatory one), you will be allocated a mentor. Normally, your mentor will be from your own faculty, but occasionally we will have to draw on mentors from other faculties. You will have between six and seven months to complete your application with guidance from your mentor. Your application will be submitted electronically.

Peer Observation

As part of your application, you are required to be observed by an experienced teacher. The observer can be your mentor, your supervisor or a staff member from TALIC. In your application, you will be able to include thoughts and actions based on the post-observation discussion.

Also, as part of your application, you must submit a supporting statement from an experienced teacher who knows about your teaching practice. He or she should read your application before writing his or her supporting statement.
