Abstract
Many undergraduate courses have a writing component, and students need to gradually develop and improve their writing skills over the course of their undergraduate career. One way to achieve this goal is to have engaging, relevant writing assessments in courses and provide students with writing support and teaching and learning activities that align with these assessments. In this second writing-focused join-the-conversation event, the speakers will share their experiences of teaching writing skills in one of their undergraduate CI-badged courses.

About the Speakers
Dr. Roslyn Lee Hammers conducts research on the history of Chinese art and art theory. She is interested in the representations of labor and technologically-informed imagery. Her book Pictures of Tilling and Weaving: Art, Labor and Technology in Song and Yuan China (Hong Kong University Press, 2011) is a recipient of the College Art Association’s Millard Meiss prize. Her second book The Imperial Patronage of Labor Genre Paintings in Eighteenth-Century China explores later iterations of imagery related to the production of rice and silk.
Dr. Clotilde Landais is a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Business and Economics at HKU. She designed her course on business storytelling based on her experience as a literature and professional communication professor. Her research interests include the role of culture in advertising campaigns.
Dr. Wincy Chan is a Lecturer in the Department of Pathology, HKUMed, focusing primarily on forensic medicine and premature deaths. She also serves as Consultant for the HKU Common Core, and provides pedagogical and e-learning solutions across Faculties. She co-teaches CCST9010 The Science of Crime Investigation. In this session, she will share a case on redesigning instruction, assessment, and feedback mechanisms to facilitate scientific inquiry and professional writing knowledge and skills.
